“Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil” is based on the book by John Berendt.  It’s inspired by actual people and events that occurred in Savannah, GA.  When Clint Eastwood made the film version (which is nowhere near as good as the book is), he was able to include some of the actual characters from the book.

It’s well known by now that, in the film, The Lady Chablis is played by…The Lady Chablis.  A character from the book who’s story did not make it to the movie is Emma Kelly, Savannah’s “Lady of 6000 Songs.”  She does, however, appear playing the piano during the party scene early in the film.  Attorney Sonny Seiler is a major character during the trial scenes of the film…but the actual Sonny Seiler plays the judge during these scenes.  But my favorite actual character to appear in the film is UGA, the mascot of the Georgia Bulldogs.  Of course, the one referenced in the book is UGA IV…his son UGA V plays him in the film.
